Vientiane Summer Course on Human Rights

On 31 August 2010 Deaf Unit have been invited to talk about 'the rights of people with hearing impairment' for law students from many provinces who attending the 'Vientiane Summer Course on Human Rights from 23 August to 10 September 2010'.

This summer course organize by International Law Project - MOFA and the National University of Laos funded by UNDP. The course aims to provides law students from different part of the countries a knowledge of Human Rights and the intentional conventions relating to Human Rights issues.

Lao PDR ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, which is one of nine core convention that protect the Human Rights, on 25 September 2009. For this reason, the government put the great effort on promoting the Rights of People with Disability in Lao PDR through many public awareness programs.

One of the course content are to learned about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and the situation of PWD in Lao PDR. Representative from Lao Disabled People Association, Deaf Unit, Lao blind Association have a chance to present about their rights and how they work to promote their member rights.
